Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 19, 2026

1. What This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy describes how Shmiras Hasdorim, a product of Shmirashasdorim LLC ("we," "us"), collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the Service. It applies to all users: school administrators, staff markers, student viewers, and parents accessing tokenized report links.

2. Information We Collect

Account information — name, email, role, school affiliation, and (for admins) hashed password or third-party identity token.

Student information provided by schools — student name, class/section assignments, attendance marks, excuse rules, grades (if enabled), and notes added by staff. Schools, not students, provide this data.

Usage data — basic logs about when features are used and which account accessed them, for security and debugging.

Device data — browser type, language, and time zone via standard web requests.

3. How We Use Information

  • Operate the attendance tracking features you requested
  • Send emails you or the school asked for (report links, invites)
  • Authenticate users and enforce access controls
  • Detect abuse and debug issues
  • Process payments through our provider
  • Communicate service updates and security notices

We do not sell personal information. We do not use student data to train machine-learning models without a school's explicit request.

4. Who We Share It With

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the platform, under contracts requiring them to protect it:

  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • Vercel — web hosting
  • Resend — transactional email (report links, invites)
  • Stripe — subscription payments
  • Anthropic — powers the optional AI assistant feature (only the content of assistant queries is shared, never bulk student data)

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect rights, safety, and property.

5. Children's Data (COPPA)

Shmiras Hasdorim does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under thirteen. Schools using the Service are responsible for obtaining any parental consent required by COPPA before entering data about students under thirteen. A parent may contact the school to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's data; upon the school's instruction we will process that request.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including residents of the EU, UK, and California), you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, or export of your personal information, and to object to or restrict processing. To exercise these rights, email support@shmirashasdorim.com. For student data, requests should go through the school that administers the student's account.

7. Data Retention

While a school's subscription is active, we retain data for as long as it is needed to operate the Service. After a subscription is cancelled, we keep the school's data for 90 days to allow reactivation, then permanently delete it. Backups are retained up to 7 days and deleted on rotation. Schools may request earlier deletion at any time.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), database row-level security, hashed passwords, and least-privilege access for internal tools. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur. If we become aware of a breach that affects your data, we will notify you as required by law.

9. International Transfers

Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, which may have different data protection rules than your country.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before taking effect.
