Shmiras Hasdorim is attendance tracking for yeshivos, mesivtas and frum schools. It handles the parts a general system was never asked to handle: sedorim and shiurim instead of periods, a year that runs by zmanim, a dormitory roll call at night, excuses that repeat, and parents who read English, Spanish or Hebrew.
How it started
I grew up in yeshiva — mesivta, then a few different yeshivos. Later shlichus. Then mashgiach: seven years in chinuch all told.
Seven years watching the same thing. What existed was built one way, and the yeshiva had to bend itself to fit: periods, quarters, a generic mould you had to force a seder into. What ended up on a bochur’s record did not always do him justice, the staff were never quite on the same page, and a parent who wanted to know how his son was doing had no clear way to find out.
So I built it the other way round. The app bends to how the yeshiva runs — not the yeshiva to the app. Every button and every screen comes out of those seven years in the hallways, not out of guessing what a yeshiva needs.
Who it is for
Three people look at the same attendance, and not one of them needs the same thing from it.
The staff
A roll that closes itself, excuses that keep applying on their own, minutes and percentages worked out as they happen. The app takes the arithmetic and the remembering — the marking, the chasing, the excuse nobody wrote down. What it hands back is the hour a teacher was spending on the record instead of on the bochurim in it.
The bochur
His own account and his own report: where he stands, how the last weeks actually went, and the excuse he can ask for himself instead of hoping somebody passed it on. Being counted is something done to him. Seeing it is what makes him answerable for it.
The parents
A summary every week or every month, in English, Spanish or Hebrew — how their son is really doing, in a form a father can read in a minute without calling anyone to ask.
Your school’s data
Each school sees only its own talmidim, staff and records — enforced in the database itself, not only in the screens. Reports you share are read-only links you can revoke. What is stored, who can see it and how long it is kept is spelled out in the privacy policy.
